Squared Away is a private website built to answer real questions about Medicare for people who served. We work with Veteran Insurance Solutions, a licensed health insurance agency. Our goal is straightforward: give you honest guidance about whether a plan makes sense for your situation, then help you enroll if it does.

Our editorial promise

We publish the honest answer even when it earns us nothing. That usually means telling someone to keep TRICARE For Life, buy nothing, or wait. Those answers don't make money. We publish them anyway because they're right for most people in those situations.

Our recommendations to you never depend on commissions. A plan fits you or it doesn't. Our role is to tell you which is true.

How we make money

When someone uses our guides and decides to enroll in a Medicare plan, a licensed agent can help with the comparison and enrollment process. When that happens, the insurance company pays Veteran Insurance Solutions a standard commission. This is how every health insurance agency operates.

The price of the plan is never higher because you used us. The commission comes from the insurance company, not from you.

Every guide on this site carries a last-reviewed date. We update them when rules change, new products launch, or our understanding improves. We cite sources and link to official resources so you can verify what we say.
